This is most certainly false and they probably just descent from a Dutch minister Jan Jansen Kuiper.ġ. The Cuperus family seems to descent from a Scotts minister/preacher John Couper - born in 1555 (from Edinborough), atleast that's what that family says. In the Netherlands everyone had to pick a lastname in 1811, ordered by Napoleon.Ī Dutch writer ( Louis Cuperus) is family of my fathers grandmother. My last name "Feenstra" means something like "from the bogs / moors in Friesland" and was first used in 1811. So far I haven't found any interesting things, maybe a pre-mariage child in 1838, but that's about it. My 1st known ancestor from my father's side was Hylke Rierds, he was born in about 1700 in a small town in Friesland (a Dutch province). I'm currently busy with sorting out my famliy tree, which is quite interesting.
